The 2005 4^th Annual Geraldton Winter Classic was held at Sth Coronation Beach on the June long weekend , with light NE winds and a rising 2’ – 3’ swell on the Saturday with 6’ plus swell forecast for Sunday the event was shaping up to be the biggest and best ever.

Saturdays near perfect conditions produced some hot surfing, it didn’t matter which foot you had forward, both the left, and the right handers were firing.

All heats and semi’s were held on Saturday, and the surfers that progressed were stoked,along with the Contest Organiser of course, because they knew the swell was going to bigger on Sunday .

Sunday produced some of the best waves in the events history (much to the relief of contest organiser Bruce Montgomery), with clean 4, waves with occasional 6’ sneaker coming through it was shaping up to be a great day of hot surfing.

Local Geraldton Surfer 15 yr old Ryan Wright again taking out the Open 8’ division for the 4^th year in a row, and to top that off he took out the Junior 9’0 division as well, young Yallingup surfer Sam Tucker coming in second to Ryan in both of these divisions, a fantastic effort by both of these young surfers a big future in surfing awaits them.

City Beach surfer Rahn Goddard successfully defended his open title, along with Gary Tucker from Yallingup again winning the O’50’s.

14 yr old Grace Clifford from Cottesloe took out the ladies division topping off

 a great 12 months of competitive surfing, defeating some of the states best Longboarders.

Again the rain held off until the finals were finished, capping off one of the biggest and best Geraldton Winter Classics . The presentations were held on the Sunday evening where a good time was held by all, especially Ofish’ls W.A Agent Jon Laming winning  the major door prize a BM 9’0 mal, he was a very happy chappy.

Geraldton Winter Classic 2004

The Geraldton Winter Classic was held over the long weekend on June the 5^th and 6^th, with light northerly winds and a small swell the contest was held at Back Beach , located about 2km south of the city centre, the contestants were greeted to 2’-3’ waves with right and left hand peaks, these conditions held for the 2 days although contest organiser Bruce Montgomery postponed the semis until the Sunday morning because of  the onshore wind and low tide.

The swell increased slightly for the semi’s and the finals on Sunday producing good waves and some hot surfing.

Local Geraldton surfer 14 year old Ryan Wright won the 8’0 division for the 3^rd year in a row.

Cottesloe club surfer Rahn Goddard took out the Opens as well as the Old Mal division.The rain held off until the finals were finished topping off another successful Geraldton Winter Classic. The presentations were held on the Sunday evening where a good time was had by all.
