Original Topic: Posted - 1/02/2007 10:20:50 AMok in light of geraldton's recent problems with anti-social behaviour and 12 yr olds bashing our tourists i wanna know what's going on and and why? i now classify geraldton as my home and i'm getting peeved at the amount of senseless violence, vandalism, assaults, high speed car chases and burglaries all in the name of boredom and drug abuse. this is the start of someone getting off their a**e and doing something, because no one else will! we love to talk about it and that's about it. i don't believe shoving the kids in a detention centre is ever going to help them.
what exactly do the youth in this town want? has anybody physically gone out and asked them-or do we just assume we know? so far assumptions aren't helping are they-like someone said-"how many skate parks do we need?"
so please have your 5cents worth, one person in here just might make a difference.
a few things that have been suggested to me are graffiti art clinics, a surfing simulator, body art / tattoo shows and good behaviour incentives ie. rehabilitated kids who prove themselves get rewarded with a bus trip to the big day out or adventure world or something.
so c'mon guys have your say- do you want a youth centre or is it a waste of time? if you do, where would you like it?
